our Italian ironman

Shaun Fisher (Rob’s brother) is competing in the first Made-in-Italy IRONMAN this September.

The ancient fishing village of Cervia hosts the spectacular race that takes place along the coastal Emilia-Romagna region flanked by the Adriatic Sea. Emilia-Romagna’s historic scenery hosts the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a full 26.2 mile marathon on Saturday 16th September.

All monies raised will go directly to the Big Girl Pants fund.

Here’s what Shaun has signed up for…

Swim: The single-loop 3.8 km (2.4 mile) swim starts at the central beach of Cervia. Athletes enter the the wonderful waters of the Adriatic Sea to swim along the shoreline before they turn back to complete the swim and head into transition.

Bike: The two-loop 180 km (112 mile) bike course starts at the promenade of Cervia and leads through the countryside of Romagna and the Salt Pans Nature Park, home of the famous pink flamingos. After passing Bertinoro the course descends back to Cervia.

Run: The run course of 42 km is four laps of 10 km each; the completely flat course reveals some characteristic views of the touristic Cervia and Milano Marittima. After reaching the port canal, the course leads through the main streets of the nearby Milano Marittima. Then they enter in the heart of Cervia across the square of the historic Salt Warehouse, icon of the city. After crossing the medieval city walls, the view opens on the charming Town Hall Square.
